BWMTC recently held a workshop on creating upcycled products. Timed with World Food Day on October 16, 2024, this workshop focused on a food-related theme: repurposing rice bags, an everyday item.
Rice bags are commonly used as trash bags, but with sewing skills, they can be transformed into functional, reusable items like shopping bags or flower pots. The tools and materials needed for this project included used rice bags, scissors, a measuring tape, sewing needles, thread, and markers.
The workshop was attended by members of the PKK Banjar Mekar Jaya, Pemogan Village, and several small businesses from the Denpasar area. Participants were very enthusiastic, following the guidance of trainer Ms. Indriani Haryati, Coordinator of the Environmental Division at LLHPB PWA Bali.
In about two hours, the participants successfully made bags from rice bags, which they could immediately use. They were thrilled to gain knowledge and skills in creating upcycled products and expressed interest in joining future creative workshops by BWMTC.
