The Rotary Club of Tokyo Kioicho recently visited the Rotary Club of Denpasar from April 13-14, 2024, for a collaborative initiative focusing on environmental sustainability in Bali. The two-day event began with training on paving block production and plastic waste shredding, aimed at promoting eco-friendly practices. Attendees also engaged in discussions about the Bali Waste Management Training Centre.
A key part of the visit included tours of local coastal areas where mangrove conservation efforts were showcased. The group visited Simbar Segara and Batu Lumbang, learning about local fishermen’s efforts in coastal cleanup and boat operations that support waste collection. The tour included a boat ride through the mangrove forest, offering insights into the importance of this ecosystem for Bali’s environment.
Additionally, participants observed an eco-printing workshop with local women, highlighting ways to involve the community in sustainable initiatives. The event concluded with a dinner at DAS Bistro, bringing together Rotary members from both clubs to celebrate their shared commitment to addressing waste management and environmental preservation.
